The checklist for your holiday with a dog

Whether camping, a holiday apartment or a hotel: what could be better than travelling with your dog? Simply get away from everyday life, go for a walk, swim, splash around, hike... There are no limits to the possibilities for holidays with your dog!

To ensure that everything goes smoothly, good preparation is essential. No problem with our checklist:

✔️  Don't forget your pet passport

The EU pet passport is both the dog's passport when you cross national borders and the animal's vaccination record and is ideally presented at every visit to the vet - even on vacation.

✔️  observe entry regulations

Vaccinations, health certificates, muzzle requirements… Every country has different laws and regulations that you should definitely find out about in advance.

✔️  roughly plan activities

What activities have you planned? Do you spend a lot of time outdoors, for example? tick protection essential. For hikes or holidays on the sandy beach, we recommend paw protection such as our "Fire Extinguisher" spot-on. If your dog likes to swim in the sea, think of a mild shampoo to rinse off the salt water, such as our moisturizing "Every-Day" shampoo.

✔️  Recognizing fear situations

This applies to the holiday itself as well as to the journey there. As much as they enjoy travelling with their owners, some dogs still need support.  herbal  Ways proven, like our  "Seelenruhe" tabs  or our  "Soul Peace" oil , which you can simply give over the food and are intended as a permanent gift. Some people also swear by our  Bach flower globules  according to the original recipe by Dr. Bach.

✔️  Clarify veterinary care on site

For example, is there a veterinary clinic with a 24-hour emergency service? Where is the nearest veterinary practice? You should clarify these questions before you arrive so that you are prepared for an emergency.

✔️  dog collar with telephone number

Especially in a new environment, dogs can behave strangely or be more easily frightened. That's why it's advisable to put an easily accessible cell phone number on the collar or even attach a GPS tracker - you never know.

✔️  Prepare your first aid kit

It should definitely contain: disposable gloves, bandages, thermometer, Vaseline, wound and healing ointment, tick tweezers, a care product e.g. for dry skin areas, such as our  "Fire Extinguisher" Skin and Coat Spray  and anti-diarrhea medication. Blunt scissors, a small flashlight and changing mats on which a wound can be hygienically treated have also proven useful.

✔️  Plan your arrival and departure

When and where are the dog's breaks a good idea? Is there perhaps a lake along the way where he can cool off? Do you have enough water and a suitable bowl with you in case you are stuck in a traffic jam for a long time, for example? For bus or train travelers, the question is whether the dog needs a muzzle or a crate/bag and whether you have to announce the dog in advance.

✔️  Pack food, baskets, etc.

Especially for sensitive dogs, you should offer them their usual food even when on vacation. If your dog has a sensitive stomach due to anxiety and restlessness  you could, for example, check out our  "fart brake" oil  to harmonize gastrointestinal activity. You should also think about bowls, towels, toys, a fur brush and a spare leash.

✔️  Bring enough poop bags

Even on vacation, we take our droppings with us. That is why you should always pack enough poop bags. Our popular "fart bag" are particularly tear-resistant, very odor-resistant  and impress with their black-matt, non-transparent appearance – in case the way to the next trash can is a little longer.😉

With such good preparation, nothing stands in the way of a wonderful trip with your dog!
